Houda

What does life as a woman or girl look like in your country / city / town / village? Any issues / challenges / exciting milestones? In my country, women are more supposed to be housewives; ‘just a woman’, they say.
It is so serious that women themselves believe that the only thing they have been born for is being just a woman to clean, cook and please the man.

In my country, women do study and go to school, but afterwards they stop chasing their dreams because having a man/protector is their life goals at the end. Women in Morocco are judged for not getting married at a certain age. Basically, as a woman, you SHOULD let go of your dreams only to fit in the society.

What would you like the world to know about YOU? What life experience, challenge or achievement do you want to share? I have been able to get out of the capsule that surrounds every other girl in my country. I was able to open my eyes to how my life is important to be lived just the way I want it. It does not necessarily need a man to fulfill it. I was able to pursue my studies and get a Bachelor’s Degree, and I am willing to get my Master's Degree as well. I could travel alone and experience all the negative feedback about a solo female traveller. I could speak my mind and never worry about my appearance and the criticism I would receive for it.

What are you most passionate about and what are you doing with that passion? I am passionate about traveling and photojournalism. I have recently started travelling but I need to go further.

How have the women and girls around you helped you to get to where you are today? All the women around me helped me to be who I am today - hearing their regrets, passions and dreams that they couldn't reach for. One of them is my Mom; "never repeat the same mistake I made, go live your life", she says.
