What’s your cause/area of focus? Women Empowerment
Tell us more. What have you been doing to help your cause so far?
My fight is for women to be economically emancipated and successful in Africa. My foundation, Womandla, is focused on informing, equipping and inspiring women in Africa. We do this by building the communities first, and thus, have a spillover effect on the country of South Africa and the continent at large. We run a school mentorship programme and we coordinate events that up-skill and train women for small business development and also inspire them to contribute to society.
Tell us about yourself. What's your background? How did you get involved in your cause?
I am from Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. This province is the poorest in South Africa, with many people leaving to find better working opportunities after their studies. My focus on women was sparked because I was raised in a matriarchal family and went to a girls’ school. I resonate with this group of people. The impact has not only been a legacy-building initiative for me, but has literally changed my life knowing that my organization is leaving young women and girls better off in making subject choices, choosing alternative careers or starting and growing their own businesses.
How and when will you judge success? What’s your endpoint?
When the Womandla Foundation receives global recognition and has testimonials from women to back its impact!
