What does life as a woman or girl look like in your country/city/town/village? Any issues/challenges/milestones?
Life as a woman in Chile is challenging. We’re just starting to change as a society, trying to get closer, step by step, to gender equality. Nevertheless there are still many challenges we have to stand up to, like discrimination when it comes to professional women working, what we should be doing with our lives and what’s expected from us, limiting us to objects and stereotyping us.
But as I said, change is happening. Many of us are ready to fight and make our voices be heard, because we know our worth as human beings.
What would you like the world to know about YOU? What life experience, challenge or achievement do you want to share?
I would like the world to know that I’m an average woman/girl, and that’s exactly what gives me power. There are many challenges I’ve overcome, just as there are many others I’ve got that I'm yet to find on my way, as I am a woman who is part of the lgbtqia+ community, as a feminist, as a woman with depression, as a Latina, and an aspiring artist. I’m ready to learn and make change, not only for me but for everyone who suffers from injustices.
What are you most passionate about and what are you doing with that passion?
My passions are art, causes like intersectional feminism, rights for the lgbtqia+ community, mental illnesses, fighting against racism. People are my passion.
How have the women and girls around you helped you to get to where you are today?
Women have helped me to get where I am today by motivating and supporting me when I most needed it. They’ve helped me to become myself by letting me see my potential without being ashamed.
